This work was #88 in a series of 100 original artworks of pears, and part of an exhibition titled: 100 Pears: A Journey of Discovery. The entire series was an exploration of media including watercolor, metal leaf, pastel, and acrylic paints. The piece is painted in a loose, painterly style on wood panel and mounted in a black floater frame. It is ready to hang, though the profile of the frame is deep enough for it to stand. This art is influenced by the impressionist painters and the use of a dark edge that firmly grounds and sharply delineates the work. It is modern, yet painterly, with beautiful subtleties in color and brushstroke. These simple, curvaceous organic shapes impart a beautiful and sensitive sensuality. I am constantly aware of the fine beauty in the simplest shapes and the smallest details and explore that concept with this series.
