About The Artwork

"Gregory is no longer the same" Before us is a picture of the philosophy of Artemy Paramonov, where the main characters are He and She, who are not destined to be together. The theme of selfishness and dislike is presented in a humorous interpretation with the title "Gregory is not the same". So, this is the story of modern men and women, expressed in the form of an allegory on the composition of the icon of St. George. The classic interpretation of the icon depicts the Holy warrior George piercing a serpent. This symbol so strongly and vividly reflects the courage and valor of men that it has long been the emblem of our military leaders. Only a few have seen or looked at the full version of the icon of the Miracle of St. George - there is depicted a soldier piercing the snake, which by the reins and leads the young daughter of the king, intended to sacrifice the terrible demon snake. But if the girl is the victim, why does the snake follow her on a leash? There is another interpretation of the icon, unpopular in the Church - and this is what we are talking about in this case: the girl leads a dragon, which represents the passions that a man (George) is fighting: the girl keeps them under control, leads a man into the house and helps him cope with sinful passions. That is, only together-He and She-can overcome these passions, only together they can become better for each other and for themselves as well. Artemius depicts a broken Union filled with selfishness. The man here is no longer a warrior - he is an idle gambler who wants to live freely and without burden: to emphasize this, the artist renames George as a simple Gregory and puts him on a puffed-up half-horse in the pool. A smug character riding a pink unicorn takes a selfie while splashing in the water. The girl instead of a snake leads a Dachshund, the embodiment of human whims, a kind of symbol of selfishness, and goes to the city of big ego - to the complex of skyscrapers in Moscow city. Two people no longer form a single Union - the wall separates these people who live only for themselves and indulge their own whims… Why are people unable or unwilling to find partners and allies in the modern world? First, the conditions of human life have changed markedly: previously, people were forced to unite and conclude marriages - a married man was cleanly dressed and fed, and a woman received custody and protection in return. Marriage helped both to survive, live and maintain a joint household, and the presence of a large family led to prosperity and prosperity. Modern urban life makes a person independent: he no longer needs a laundress and a cook, a nurse for his children, and the children themselves can become a burden - not only for men, but often for women. Children now need to plan ahead, consciously, and accept all the consequences of such a decision. That's why people are increasingly putting off parenthood for later: a single life is much less expensive, and to be in bed alone in old age, when there is no one to give you a glass of water, is not so terrible as to be mired in debt and mortgages and plow all your life at a hateful job to provide for your family... This is the truth: people are driven by fear. Secondly, this is the specifics of Russian realities: over the past century, the male population of our country has been cruelly mowed down by wars - starting with the great Patriotic war... both parents and single women literally blew the dust off the surviving men... and then there were Afghanistan and Chechnya... Mothers began to panic for their sons and by hook or by crook protect their beloved children from the army as from war. As a result, a whole generation of infantile boys grew up, who once became fathers who were not able to set the right example for their own sons and daughters: looking at such fathers, daughters did not want to marry, and sons did not see fathers as a strong head of the family. Marriage has lost its original meaning. These and other reflections are suggested by a picture that expresses a whole philosophy that reflects the master's view of modern marriage. And like any philosophy, it does not teach or tell you how to live further - it just offers to think about the problem

PARAMONOVISM is a project of a modern young artist Artemy Paramonov: 20 paintings that invite a new look at the everyday reality of Russian folklore and Indian epics, folk traditions and references to religious rites are embodied in elegant still lifes. Bright colors will instantly attract your attention, and compositions where every detail matters will make you look for a new meaning in familiar objects. Sensitive, do not like each other's canvases, daring combinations, bold color, philosophical form... all this PARAMONOVISM. Artemy Paramonov - contemporary young artist, whose style has grown beyond the boundaries of painting. Having received a professional education at the Moscow art school of applied art.Kalinina, Artemiy starts in his work from classical painting with a religious bias, remaining an adherent of decorative art. Developing as a master of ancient Russian painting, the artist not only perfectly studied the heritage of classical masters, but also managed to transform it for himself, bypassing, and sometimes breaking religious dogmas. Reinterpreting the philosophy of two of the world's oldest faiths - Christianity and Hinduism, Artemiy interprets established truths in a new way, penetrates into the very essence of the behavior and motivation of modern man, works with internal psychological blocks in an attempt to free himself from established stereotypes in society-because only a truly free person can create a pure work of art. In the old days, the artist showed himself to be a bridge between the divine and the human world. Today, its task is to take an old idea, transform it and re-present it to a person living in the XXI century. The world is constantly changing, and the perception of artistic reality by modern people is changing , and the artist must clearly navigate this changed world, be one step ahead of his audience, and lead them. Based on a solid Foundation in the form of Orthodox education in painting, Artemy creates a bold, modern, sometimes even pop art that incorporates American pop art and French impressionism, the splinter form and symbolism of ancient Russian art, references to philosophical and religious themes. As for the technological techniques of the master, which are the essence of "paramonovism", Artemy uses primarily acrylic: the basis of the paint layer is formed by dense impressionist fill spots.
