Taking what he learned about surfaces and in ceramics he then applied it to paper and mixed media work and experiments with mark making and brushstrokes. Sam has a degree in environmental science and this series of work is inspired by his research and field work. It is also inspired by things such as blocks of clay and glazes, how the ocean weathers stones, the sides of houses at the sea shore, the constant change and splendor of nature. Sam has been featured in group shows and many private collections and enjoys working with architects and interior designers to create one of a kind pieces.
