ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"HORIZON LINE" 2007 was an important work as it was the first time I was using cement trowels to apply the paint instead of brushes. The increased physicality and mixing colors across the hard metal edge prior to application brought forward a whole new set of options. Layering large areas of color created a depth where and past and present could be distinguished. This was a later canvas in the "On the Borders of Language" series. The characters resemble letters from various dialects but are not meant to convey literal meaning but rather language itself.
