Haitian cheerfulness Painting

Petitzil Michelet known as Pizaro or Ras-Piz, has resided in Vitré since November 2018. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Son of Petitzil Fidélis and Louissa Eugène. His first source of motivation began in 1998 when his mother gave him 750 GHT to buy a pair of shoes. But he finally took a few tubes of paints, thinking that he would then have more possibilities to buy them if he sold his works. It was at this time that he became a “painter” under the influence of his big brother Piracasso who guided him and taught him many techniques to achieve what he had imagined. Pizaro was raised in Voodoo culture and has always been passionate about the arts and music, bringing them together as tools to interpret the world around him. He knows “a science of nature”. A nature where trees speak, birds whisper secrets to ears and eyes. In its jungles we get lost, we find ourselves, guided by paths of symbols from Haitian voodoo: the vèvèh. His painting and texts explore Haitian African roots, vibrant colors and mystical aspects of spirituality, merging words and images to express his unique vision. When colors scream, they give birth to all kinds of expressions, images, shapes and styles, because everything is a mixture and art is a continuity of inspiration, he says? He has a current exhibition at the Artür gallery called “Métamorphoses” in Nemours. He participated in the Ludions festival in Carolles, Normandy.
