Hanami Painting

This is a very calm, meditative work from a large series painted after our forth, two month long stay in Japan, mostly biking around Kyoto from temple to temple, from weeping cherrytrees to numerous different species of blooming prune and cherry trees all over the fascinating city and area, an overwelming time. This work tries to render some of the soft atmosphere full of hope and faith, the metaphor of Spring. "Hanami" is celebrating and paying tribute to this unique time of the year, the Japanese gather under the blooming splendor to take in its soft and bright message of hope and energy, it's strength hopefully strong enough for the whole year ahead.
