About The Artwork
Turning our abilities into artful performances is just one of the many things that makes us unique as people when compared to other animals. The vine around the body is a cautionary reminder that escapism can be empowering yet harmful at the same time. This piece is a continuation of experimenting with food pigments to produce a rich, full bodied colour palette whilst giving the image an aged appearance. The use of gravy browning, coffee, herbs and spices gives the image many imperfections to be appreciated, much like our bodies.
