Hand-cut "Guitar" Painting

Hand-cut paper guitar leaning against a vintage door. Made from a single piece of paper that was cut and painted with multiple spray paints. The background is walnut wood that was purposefully put together with slight gaps and variations in thickness to give a nod to the old door behind the guitar. I designed and built the frame specifically for this piece. It is made from walnut with brushed aluminum inlays. It also has mother of pearl dots (used in guitar fretboards). I used red tortoiseshell pickguard material as a mat surrounding the piece. Sometimes inspiration hits when you least expect it. I was at church one Sunday morning when I noticed the Worship Pastor’s acoustic guitar sitting in a stand on stage. There was something about how the lights hit it with smoke in the background that made it beautiful. This was no pristine guitar. It showed the signs of years of use which made it that much more interesting. Watch the video below where I talk about the inspiration and show how I made this piece and frame.
