About The Artwork

In contrast to my other paintings, these 40 x 40 cm (15.7 x 15.7 Inch) hands are not designed as an individual artwork, but as parts of a large picture that gives a complete artwork. Here I show you a suggestion of an arrangement as it was seen in my last exhibition. Feel free to change or completely reorganize the 15 elements of this work every day. Although some hands might appear similar, 15 different people have been portrayed in this artwork. I do paint from living people and not from photographs that's why my paintings always express a relationship that developed through the painting sessions. A lot of my clients tend to say they appear more vivid through this special way of creation. I love to work holistically that's why the canvas framework is handmade by myself.

Nikolaus Reinecke is a contemporary figurative painter. He was born in Bremen, Germany and is currently living in Hildesheim (close to Hannover), Germany. For 16 years Reinecke has maintained his studio in Stammelbach-Speicher in Hildesheim. This is where special contemporary art arises. With a rough style, Reinecke paints larger-than-life portraits and nudes. Unlike other artists, he does not make a perfect copy of a photograph, he paints in front of the model. This captures a moment that arises during the encounter between the artist and the person portrayed. In times of high-definition cameras, that's exactly what we lack, the artist's involvement with our personality. Depending on the size of the painting, the artist and his counterparts spend between 8 and 30 hours in the studio.
