Have Some Tea Painting

I created this piece with love and to show my gratitude for the Cannabis plant. An actual leaf from one weed plant was used to create two stamps. The one in the centre of the image is skewed and distorted from the motion as I slid it sideways across the canvas while covered in a thick layer of paint.The one in the bottom area is more clear, created through a more traditional stamp method. The thing I love most about showing my paintings to people is to hear about what they see and feel through it. So rather than tell you what I see, I will often explain the thoughts, feelings, mood and place in my life in which the painting was created and this is a perfect example of that. Weed has been a huge part of my life for over a decade. It has been the most consistent plant medicine to help me grow and evolve and like many other north americans, I was happy to finally purchase it legally through a prescription. Now that I live near Amsterdam, I have grown to realise that it's not a part of my life I need to keep secret anymore. I am fully embracing all that it has given me, and it is no longer necessary to feel ashamed or pushed down from the typical stereotypes. I know that I am not a shadow dweller or sketchy; I know that I am not lazy or stupid. I am strong and I work hard for what I am passionate about and this glorious divine plant has been a gift to me in my journey. I honestly don't know where I would be now if I had not welcomed it into my life.
