ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I hoped that viewers would be grabbed by the strong lines and striking contrast of the orange and brown background with the form of the woman. The image was inspired from a fashion photograph in which the model spotted sweeping hair. The drip and layering effect of the watercolours create the mass of dark clouds as hair showing the often beautiful and turbulent mind we have. This in turn is overwhelming and creates vulnerability as shown in the clutching of the woman’s hands to her chest.
