ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This was one of my first truly large paintings in my cafe series at 5 feet across. For me this encapsulates a certain moment in time and a way of being in the city--an every day moment in Minneapolis that is imbued with a sense of possibility, subterfuge, mystery, and a touch of foreboding. The resin countertop provided the reflective surface that was the perfect uneven counterpoint to the strong lines and forms of the more industrial parts of the cafe. This painting inspired what has become a multi-year series for me that now spans cafes and environments across continents.
