This reminded me of the electric company advertising from when I was young. The Reddy Kilowatt character was always there to keep kids safe from, well, stupidity. I created this painting directly on the surface of a vintage industrial silkscreen frame that I have used for years in my studio to create other artworks. These old wood & silk frames have been used hundreds of times by me to create other artworks. I love the texture and history of these surfaces to create new paintings upon when I have the chance. There is a palpable sense of use and history to these pieces, which have really lived many artistic lives over the decades. I prefer creating paintings on these old screens over painting on new, white canvas or paper because the thread of history in the surface really adds something to the final work. The surface has texture and the wooden sides of the surface allow this piece to hang quite nicely without framing. It has it's own built-in frame! Hanging hardware is attached to the back and it is ready to go. I hope you will find this artwork an amusing and bright addition to your collection
