About The Artwork
I was inspired by the fleeting sight of two white ponies standing together in a Scottish meadow. The horses seemed to sharing a secret and acknowledging each other fully and mysteriously. I have carried this image in my head for years and am now bringing it to fruition. I hope that the viewer will pick up on the almost ghostly presence of the pale horses against the dark background, and also enjoy the beautiful outline of their heads and backs. As i worked on this painting I began to realise that these outline shapes were a strong part of the subject matter. I choose the acrylic for ease of working and spontaneity. I was trying in this painting to give an impression rather than a close description, and wanted to convey its essence with as few brushstrokes as possible.
