Hills and Oaks with Shadow Painting

I tend to paint in themes and visit and revisit them in cycles. I paint rural scenes, usually with a barn or some sort of path or road in it. I also paint birds and the occasional floral piece. I work with sketches I create in pencil or charcoal and then sketch the final piece in my studio on the canvas or paper I am using. I like to work on more than one piece at a time. Oil paints dry slowly, and so I have to wait sometimes days between sessions on one piece. Having works in various stages allows me to keep working on something ongoing without the anxiety or frustration of literally waiting for paint to dry.
