Entitled HISTORY REPEATED, this beaded painting was inspired by my visits to London, England where I saw the famous Banksy pink car. This early 80's Triumph GT6 sits in silence atop an old shipping container near Brick Lane. I studied it for awhile because the driver, a ghost-like skeleton, intrigued me. I did a little research and it turns out that the car was originally yellow until one day, when someone came along and painted it pink. That someone is Britain's most famous guerrilla artist, Banksy. Banksy has redefined the way the world thinks about art merely by being a 'vandal', and to me, the pink car proves it. It is now protected in a plexiglass box, and when I saw it, I imagined what a bead-embroidered replica of the car would look like in a semi-beaded future. This bead-painting is my interpretation of East London's past, present, and future. It is also a direct reference to terrorism, genocide, war, and fear. Sadly, the writing is on the wall & history continues to repeat itself today.. The painting consists of bead embroidery stitched to a 24" x 30" collaged canvas using a strong nylon thread. This piece is wired on the back and signed by The Lone Beader. It is ready to hang - there is no need for framing! Media: glass beads, mixed media, collage Dimensions: 24" x 30" (61 x 76cm) This painting was hand-beaded in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
