In this work, I sought to convey the delicate beauty of the cotton plant at the end of its cycle—when the boll has opened, and the soft, light cotton is gently bursting out. At the same time, the remaining leaves and stems carry an element of decay, symbolizing the inevitable change of seasons and the cycle of life. I wanted the viewer to feel both the fragility and the strength of nature, its cycles and regeneration. I chose the theme of the cotton plant because this plant embodies not only natural beauty but also deep social and cultural significance. For centuries, cotton has been an important resource, closely tied to human history, labor, and transformation. In my work, the cotton plant becomes a symbol of the interconnection between humans and nature, a source of reflection on how nature provides us with what we need while maintaining its independence and enduring beauty. My botanical illustrations are not just quickly executed; they are a multi-layered process that requires hours of meticulous work. Every tiny detail is carefully crafted to convey the full beauty and unique characteristics of each plant. This labor-intensive process makes each piece truly valuable and cherished by art connoisseurs. The works are made on 100% Saunders Waterford archival quality 300g/cm cotton watercolour paper, using the world's best watercolour inks with the highest lightfastness index The watercolor technique was deliberately chosen—it allows me to express the airiness and lightness of cotton, its soft texture, and natural tones. I wanted the viewers to feel the subtlety and tenderness of the moment, to sense the fragility and transience of nature while preserving the sense of its incredible vitality.
