ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Common bulbul (Pycnotus barbatus), North, West & Central Africa. I painted this over a weekend of sadness: it came out dark and shadowy, but there was a shaft of sunlight illuminating the bird and the leaves above it. Alkyd oils on canvas, with acrylic underpainting and additional use of graphite pencil and marker pen. Canvas edges white, messy. Signed and dated bottom right. Size 39 cm wide x 84 cm high (15.4 x 33.1 inches), edge depth 1.8 cm (0.7 inches). Please note that this painting is dark and quite glossy: it needs a diffuse-light location, it won't be happy under intense lighting. Ornithologists also note that there's a lot of artistic license going on, you'd be hard-pressed to identify common bulbul from this! Reference photo: own photo, Nairobi, Kenya.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My art imagines what birds might say if they could speak our language. They would fear and hate us, surely: we are fast destroying their planet. They would tell us to stop before it's too late. But perhaps they'd frame that with love. I think they'd frame it with love. Contact:
