About The Artwork

When I get sad, I stop being sad and drink a beer instead. In Germany beer is not only one of the most common drinks but also an important part of culture. Since every painting is like a magnifying glass into the artists soul, this painting clearly shows that beer plays an important part in my life and that I probably had been very thirsty that moment. The colors and the style of the painting should make the viewer think of a warm, cozy and smoky bar where you sit down, with great company and a fresh draft beer. Cheers!

My name is Kon Turner, I was born in 1988 in Berlin and have been living in Berlin and Melbourne since then. I mainly focus on acrylics and spray paint on canvases or wood panels. My pieces are heavily influenced by Graffiti art which I have been creating since 1996. As such, my artwork has been exhibited throughout Berlin on the walls of the city. My work combines contrasting colours and geometric forms. Explosive swings, fast brush strokes and squeegee techniques generate abstract or realistic art pieces that feel dynamic, agile and bright. Everything in life is composed of light, shadow and depths in myriad combinations, so we have to accept that many of them are never fully explored or understood. My paintings feel like a puzzle where I have taken life apart and let you, the viewer, put it back together. When looking at my paintings I invite you to start searching for the inexplicable, Imagine a riddle that cannot be solved, I want you to grumble, I want you to dream. “Whenever I am about to create a new piece of art, I will stare at this pristine thing - this spotless canvas - but feel too anxious to start. Until I do and the malaise gets replaced by an agravic flow state.”
