ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Monster Series is inspired by the psychological phenomenon of pareidolia. Pareidolia: a psychological phenomenon in which visual and auditory data are interpreted through known pattern recognition. Since my childhood, I had no interest in drawing people or landscapes. For me, the wood grain on the bathroom door at home looked like a monster, so I did a lot of graffiti on that theme. I liked strange things, and it was a kind of playful way for me to imagine scary things for myself and thrill in my imagination. Even now, to this day, I still sometimes play that kind of child's game.

Oil painter and printmaker. Began studying oil painting at the age of 7. After studying art at Tokyo University of the Arts and studying and creating art in Paris, I have been working as a professional artist since 2015. I am currently based in Chiba, Japan, working on art-related projects and exploring areas where art can play an educational role in the community and society. In addition, I have been working in video production for 10 years. I am influenced by the natural sciences and the abstract works of the 19th and 20th centuries. I was also influenced by my mother, who works as a graphic designer, so I draw drawings that reflect the Japanese writing culture, and my creative activities are based on art as a solution.
