Painting: Oil, Tempera on Wood.
My aim was for original, contemporary paintings, to develop a unique style while expressing my love for painting.
If you are German you grow up with forests and woodlands. My family has always been traipsing through the forest behind our home on weekends..as kids we couldn’t see the point. Now though..
Interested at how other artist have responded to the theme I focused on expressive painters. My studies included paintings by Thompson, Munch, Kinnear and Jackson.
Looking for an original approach I experimented with colour, composition, mark making and size to find a way to express how I feel about my subject matter and painting, my love for woods and my love for paint.
Incorporating experiences from my time as a kid, loving cartoons, living and working as an adult in urban environments, experiencing Asian culture and tattooing lead to integrating urban street style, Disney and calligraphy to my beloved paintings about the woods of my childhood.
The end results are expressive contemporary oil paintings, incorporating lettering, cartoons, tree markings and colour (lots of it), true to myself.
