About The Artwork

This Painting is the culmination, the convergence, the commemoration and crowning of what was my new found style of painting, completed @18 months in, it was wet and worked on regularly for a full 6 months, which is evident in the texture that can be seen on the surface, not deliberately sculpted to attain this with any celerity as such, but rather built up tenaciously over time and with incessant labour. Again this is evident in the nature of the surface itself. Some paintings I've done have been fashioned over a greater time period, but none with such focus, concentration and attention over a timespan like this. To me the painting is priceless, however the end should justify the means if I raise the finance to take my paintings, my Art to the reaches to which I intend. That said, my original plans were to hold onto this until a given end, however I deciphered that my current favourite work must sell for my Art to breath and have life outside of my studio and my own mind. Symbolism is nothing short of rife in this painting, it tells a story perhaps more vividly and striking of aesthetics than any other I have produced. The Dragon, The Crocodilian, The Gargoyle, The Succubus, The Devil, The Self, The Ego, The Phallus, The Gorgon, The Fallen Angel, The Broken or Clipped Angel, Confusion and Labyrinthine Direction, Elven Reference, The Stones, Phantasmagorical Figures and Motions, all brought forth from the subconscious in extemporaneous bursts of energetic and flourishing expression. In The Moment, Of The Moment, For The Moment... The overall message of this painting, as with all of my work is intended to be 50% about the viewers own interpretation(s) and 50% about my own intention(s). This painting in particular I believe to have an almost pre-eminent three dimensional, figurative quality despite in essence being nothing more than extemporaneous bursts of energetic paint delivery, whereupon I act as a conduit between the energies that surround me and the energies stored within me, resulting in a time capsule or indeed relic of that time-period of my life and artistic discovery. Again, in particular, I see this painting as the quintessence of my work of that era, some encompassment of my Artwork produced empirically, contrived, even born, perhaps treated with the same nurture, care, and love as a child. As with much of my work I believe it to have a life of its own in the infinite interpretations that can be made by the viewer and audience, an immanent attribute I believe to be a chameleonic, ever-changing, omnipresent and possibly ubiquitous, illusory experience, even relationship with the eye and mind of the beholder...
