Painting: Oil, gold leaf, 23K gold leaf on Canvas.
The dream was silenced on April 4th 1968. This painting is a reminder of the endless struggle for freedom and equality. Some individuals, and movements, take us forward by leaps and bounds. Then something, or someone, comes along that takes it all away. No matter what the backlash, we have to push on forward!
Q: Why not go all the way and use 24K gold leaf?
I did - and I will continue to use it whenever the absolute brilliance of 24K gold leaf is needed. For this I prefer the more mellow buttery richness of 23K gold leaf. The difference is minimal, but enough for me.
The painting has my “e” symbol on the front and my signature on the back.
The painting continues around the sides, so it is ready to hang unframed.
