Short biography Celia gouveiac Born in Brazil. Passionate about Art since her youth, multidisciplinary artist. Her works coexist in a coherent universe, fruit of a singular course and of a material based on the human relation. Authentic, she avoids any intellectual alibi, working and defending her relationship to materiality, the power of the hand in art. Her work is the expression of a contemporary spirituality, one that respects differences, values and questions them and invites the public to a new vision engaging in a warm exchange. "My research aims to turn to human ambiguity: the power to surprise, the ability to be great or mediocre: Man, facing himself. Celia Gouveiac leaves Brazil to settle in Paris in 1997, where two years later she meets the sculptor Petrus who becomes her teacher and master for three years. She left the capital in 2002, to settle in La Turbie on the French Riviera, then in 2005 in Nice where she lives and practices her art until 2011. The woman and artist deeply believes that Art can be the instrument of a social transformation and a powerful activator of consciousness. Celia Gouveiac lives and works in Bordeaux. My artistic approach Painting and sculpture are both favoured by Celia, never simultaneously, but each one intensively. Some years spent on the one, one can say exhaustively, she passed inspirationally on to the other. As such, her paintings represent three major series wherein the artist moves seamlessly from figuration () into abstraction () forms covering the pictural areas and which relate in a sense to the sculptures that follow. From 2017, sculpturally, notwithstanding her classical training, she seeks passionately to mould the body but simply as envelope ; with its geometry and proportions, and even more so for the habitat it represents. Man ‘lives within’ a sculpture as long as he is on earth ; A mobile structure, perfection in itself, which gives us existence and to stand upright without awareness of it ; this also fascinates the artist. From 2015, Celia Gouveiac heads towards a much rawer production and shrugs off traditional beauty in favour of a search for interiority, and for univeral and timeless symbols, indicating to us the already grasped solution, unconditional love and the making flesh of it. Two long-line forms intertwine, kiss, their heads melting together forming a heart. The series is born in 2018.
