Painting: Oil, Acrylic on Wood.
My practice centres on an exploration of space and structure in the landscape and my process of making.
Drawing on site beside the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol I recorded my initial responses to the subject. In this way I develop a visual language that is subsequently translated through paint.
I use a vibrant colour palette, which complements the energy of my mark making. By painting and repainting, I build up layers allowing the paintings to reflect honestly the history of the making
Such influences feed into my paintings encouraging them to teeter enticingly between abstraction and reality.
I invite the viewer to look for the essence of this work and to question the metaphoric nature of the bridge as a means of escape and as a means access.
This painting is on a wooden panel and so can easily by hung using two screws.
