All my paintings are stylized as antiqued and made in the classic technique of old Masters. ▲ Note: The icons have a number of specific features: cracks (“craquelures”); imitation of loss of the “levkas” and the paint layer. A pattern of minute surface cracks (a network of fine cracks) on painted surface. I developed my own unique technique and technology imitation of craquelure, loss of the “levkas” (gesso) and the paint layer. The crack patterns are artificial (handmade). The craquelure varnish was not used for the stylization! The icons are made to appear aged through the use of artificial methods and various techniques. The majority of the Icons, I have created were painted on aged wood, however, at times I have had to resort to the use of boards created and carved with my own hands, and subsequently aged artificially. In particular, this icon board created and carved with my own hands, and subsequently aged artificially. The image is also artificially aged. The “kovcheg” (cut-back centre portion) is deep, with two thin connected cut in the reverse side. On the reverse of the icon is my signature. All Icons are executed in accordance with the canon, iconographic traditions and iconography technique. The traditional iconography basically imitate rare extant icons of the 16th - 17th – centuries. The icons look old-time (old style/16th - 17th – centuries style) and very similar to the original icons of the 16th - 17th – centuries style. This artwork will bring an appeasement into your house your bedroom or living room. ☛‼️ ••• Description of the main scene of the Icon ••• The icon belongs to the iconographic type known as Tenderness (Umilenie). Our Lady is depicted waist-length. Our Lady is holding the Divine Child in Her right arm, Her head is turned to the right. The Divine Child presses His cheek to Her Cheek and embraces His Mother. The Divine Child’s face is turned upwards.The Divine Child’s right hand touches Our Lady’s shoulder. The Divine Child’s legs are covered with the chiton. His left leg is bent revealing His foot. THE HALO AND SOME ELEMENTS OF CLOTHES ARE PAINTED IN GOLD. The halo is golden with red outlines. The ornamentation of clothes look so lifelike that one can almost feel the tissue of clothes. The artwork has emotional shade. The face of the Virgin Mary is noted for the profound and contemplative expression. To make the Holy Virgin look more sorrowful I made a special emphasis on her eyes. The delicate elongated figure almost float through the compositions of the icon making the image deeply spiritual and detached from reality. While the artwork is small in size, the Virgin Mary' image look majestic.
