All my paintings are stylized as antiqued and made in the classic technique of old Masters. ▲ Note: The icons have a number of specific features: cracks (“craquelures”); imitation of loss of the “levkas” and the paint layer. A pattern of minute surface cracks (a network of fine cracks) on painted surface. I developed my own unique technique and technology imitation of craquelure, loss of the “levkas” (gesso) and the paint layer. The crack patterns are artificial (handmade). The craquelure varnish was not used for the stylization! The icons are made to appear aged through the use of artificial methods and various techniques. The majority of the Icons, I have created were painted on aged wood, however, at times I have had to resort to the use of boards created and carved with my own hands, and subsequently aged artificially. In particular, this icon board created and carved with my own hands, and subsequently aged artificially. The “kovcheg” (cut-back centre portion) is deep, with two thin connected cut in the reverse side. All Icons are executed in accordance with the canon, iconographic traditions and iconography technique. The traditional iconography basically imitate rare extant icons of the 16th - 17th – centuries. The icons look old-time (old style/16th - 17th – centuries style) and very similar to the original icons of the 16th - 17th – centuries style. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for looking! ☛‼️ ••• Description of the main scene of the Icon ••• The icon belongs to the iconographic type known as Tenderness (Eleusa/Umilenie). The centerpiece shows the half-length depiction of the figures of Holy Virgin and the Child looking at each other against a ivory (golden-yellowish - light ochre) background color. The Holy Virgin is shown holding the Infant Christ upon her right hand. The Child presses his cheek against his mother’s face, His face looks upward. The Child’s right hand is stretched forward touching the right shoulder of the Mother of God and His left hand holds the folded scroll. Christ’s legs are not covered with a chiton up to his feet. The Holy Virgin’s look expresses sorrow and prayer for the Son and all the people. The Mother of God is wearing dark cherry brown (brownish red colour/shades of red and brown color) omophorion falling in nice broad folds with golden orange edging. On the shoulder of the Holy Virgin are gold stars, there is a gold star on the forehead. Infant Christ dressed in unusually color clothes – a golden orange himation with an ornamented clavus. The vestments of the Son and of the Mother of God are richly covered with golden assist. THE HALOS AND SOME ELEMENTS OF CLOTHES ARE PAINTED IN GOLD (Gold leaf). The halos are golden with red outlines. The ornamentation of clothes look so lifelike that one can almost feel the tissue of clothes. The austere image of the Mother of God is distinguished by the unusually elongated and symmetrical contours, a long and thin nose, a motionless look of big eyes, raised eyebrows. On the upper border, in the center, represents the Holy Trinity (Old Testament Trinity). At the sides of the image of the Holy Trinity are represented depictions of the half-figures Saints. To the left are the Venerable Sergius of Radonezh and Saint Prince Oleg of Bryansk. To the right are Saint Pantaleon (Panteleimon) and Saint Blessed Grand Prince Igor of Chernigov. On side borders are the figures of the standing Saints. All of them are not shown in frontal position, but turned to the centerpiece, in prayer. On the left, top-down, are the figures of Saint Gregory the Theologian and Apostle Peter. On the right, top-down, are the figures of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and Apostle Paul. On the lower border of the icon are shown half-figures of Saint Grand Prince the Pious Alexander Nevsky, the Holy Equal to the Apostles Great Prince Vladimir and Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki.
