Illusion II Painting

I was born and raised north of the polar circle in Norway. Here I experienced the contrasts of that environment, the dark blue sparkling winters and the light pastel colored summers, and this experience has influenced my work more than any thing else. I moved to the UK in 2006 to complete a BA in Fine Art, painting. Coming from a very quiet part of the word, I suddenly found myself in the middle of a melting pot of activity. My recent work is therefore inspired by the effects that the urban environment has upon me. The high level of energy and the heartbeat of the busy streets fascinate me as well as the contrasts between the shiny surface of the skyscrapers and the scribbling or graffiti on the walls of tatty warehouses; traces of human activity! Humans themselves inspire me also; some of my work depicts the questioning presence of individuals who are placed in this melting pot of activity.
