Part of the Caesura Series, "Impressions" evolved from the idea that we are constantly moving between states of open vulnerability - exposing the complexity of our being; and states of guarded obscurity - presenting a composed and nuanced facade. But regardless of our external projection, the Impressions of our experience are always visible. They are the source of our individual beauty and the catalyst for a richer life experience.
A Caesura is a break in a verse where one phrase ends and the following phrase begins. In time value this break may vary between the slightest perception of silence all the way up to a full pause. In choral works a brief caesura may be notated where singers are to catch their breath.
The pieces in my Caesura Series are intended to serve as visual representations of those essential moments in life when we must pause // take a breath // let one phase end // and move forward, replenished, into the next.
