Impressions Painting

The painting is called the Aluoch-the sister of was inspired by a young intelligent and confident woman who approached me and sparked a great conversation while i was in the studio struggling with an empty canvas.i hope the viewer gets to see the figure of the woman's upper body and feel the freedom by which i tried to display her.Her independence and responsible stature allows her to display a form of carefreeness,something most women in the kenyan society are working to achieve.Especially with the rise of feminism and female empowerment.I choose abstraction because as much as feminism is clear on its agenda,most women don't want to give up the benefits of this patriarchal society and men still treat women with gender sensitivity and not as equal persons.
