About The Artwork
'In Blue': This composition is inspired by the classic-canon 'bathers' theme. This theme allows to freely experiment with and combine figures which possibly only can be seen near the shores and beaches - and in the artist's mind and fantasy. I develop a painting with an initial drawing with more or less degrees of freedom. In this case a blue dreamed lake landscape hosts personalities which evolve out of themselves. Improvised and open portions in the painting contrast with portions which have been worked through. The idea is to create a work inside of a given theme (here 'bathers'), but let it lead itself in terms of interaction, emotion and story it will tell. This lake hosts a scene where finally artist and viewer 'start from zero' - with undefined intellectual and emotional outcome. Acrylic and oil on canvas. Ready to hang.

For my drawings charcoal is most important for me, because of its archaic and basic power and because of its tenderness.
