ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is an acrylic painting on a wood panel. I painted this together with several others after a short trip to the beach, when we could travel again in 2020. The sea was a million blues and greens, rock pools sparkled in the sunshine. And for a short, magical time, everything seemed good with the world. I didn't think about an end result when I painted this. But when I felt it was finished the title seemed to fit. It from the title of a song sung by The Lightening Seeds called Ideal World. Check out the lyrics, they seem relevant today even though it was released in 1987

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I drift along the edge of abstraction and I often find myself diving into the deep realms of abstract expressionism, intuitively exploring the landscape of the natural world, of body, and of mind. I use gestural marks, colour, and texture to describe, the connection I have with a place or an experience and its energy and the impact it has on me. I use acrylics and mixed media, building layers using a variety of tools such as rags, spatulas, bits of plastic, and card as well as brushes. Then I scrape back into the paint to reveal a rich, textured, and sophisticated story. There may be as many as 10 layers of work, some hidden or with only a speck being revealed. I increasingly find myself painting what I feel, not what I see. A painting will reveal itself to me and after leaving it to settle for a few days I can read stories in the painting, which relate to recent experiences. I work from my studio in The Silk Mill in Somerset, England.
