Maya Gavasheli was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, a beautiful country placed at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Georgia is a land with a magnificent history and unparalleled natural beauty of mountains, beaches and endless vineyards. During her years there, Maya was introduced to the traditional Caucasian art techniques that include hot and cold cloisonne enameling. Maya Gavasheli is an artist of the generation that emerged in the wake of the influence of traditional Caucasian art of enameling, and impressionistic European landscapes. She studied in several studios of artists in Georgia, and Israel. There, she absorbed an acute attention to the mood of colors associated with expressing one's perceptions before nature, subsequently refining her own visual and conceptual vocabulary. Maya’s artwork can be found in private art collections in the United States and Europe, and has been seen in several exhibitions worldwide. She currently lives and works in Greenville, SC. Her techniques and materials include rasin, hot and cold cloisonne enameling, oil, acrylic, and their mixes.
