ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Oil on wood 20x30x2cm (7.9x11.8x0.8in) 2019 Indian girl is an oil on wood artwork which I painted while I was experimenting a different way of priming wood surfaces. I was looking for a colourful image to paint and I came across this picture shot by a friend of mine when she was travelling around India. I suddenly decided that it was perfect for the wood panel I was about to paint. This is the case when a picture remains in the artist’s sketch-folder for years until it gets its destination. I’m particularly happy with the result of the painting sessions as it is bright and colourful. The slightly faded background contributes in letting the face of the girl stand out. The gestural painting technique makes the Indian girl move like if she is real. This oil on wood painting is a 20x30cm wood panel, hand primed and painted with top quality oil colours. I suggest to have it framed with a quite thick frame, to underline the personality of the artwork.

In my paintings I focus on figures and their interaction with the landscape and architecture. After spending some years being very faithful to the samples, I am now experimenting different styles of painting and alternating portraits (mainly commissions) with sperimental artworks. Also, I am increasingly taking advantage of image editing softwares in pre-production to find the best colours and lights for the painting. I use oil colours both on wood and linen. All the materials used in the artworks are high quality, from hand primed canvas (by myself, using a classic method that prevents from aging and deterioration) to colours.
