Chris Crewe paints Pop Art commentary as a reflection of contemporary life, living a fast paced and colorful post modern lifestyle he also has a clothing line and a series of larger paintings based on the concept of "capturing a moment in time" where he uses a sledgehammer to create abstract work by capturing a controlled explosion on canvas with paint. Chris can often be found documenting graffiti with his camera, finding inspiration in the city around him, looking down alley ways, climbing street poles, exploring everywhere and uncovering new work. Graffiti is much like logo design where there is always a fresh attitude and boldness which is fertile ground for new ideas. These paintings are created using Latex Enamel as well as Ink, often times a Graffiti Marker and Oil Pastel are used as well. Chris prefers using bright and vibrant colors with strong line and shape in his compositions, he has a gift for creating controlled explosions on canvas, paired with a love for intelligent composition and subject matter revealing love for the world in his work. Chris is currently working and developing a series of conceptual paintings using pieces of cinder block to create architectural fragments in vibrant colors on large wood panels. The new works are very exciting and have recently become available for purchase, exclusively on Saatchi art. Chris has dedicated a Pinterest board to showing off his #streetart finds with over 900 photos to date documenting graffiti artists from all over Toronto. "My paintings attract people who are looking for authenticity, every time you look at one of my works you will notice something; a small nuance or intricacy that you did not see before, it will brighten up your day and become an endless source of good energy. I hope You will see a starting point and perhaps get momentarily lost; I hope that you will dream." -Chris Crewe ______________________________________________ Arrives ready to hang on your wall; made with high quality heavy body paint so you can really feel the structure and witness the vibrancy of the color and its permanent finish. . « I hope you will see a starting point and maybe get a bit lost: I hope that you will dream. » Emerging artist Chris Crewe compares life to a trapeze act. Always knowing that the next rung will be there, he hasn't fallen yet. The Canadian artist has been studying the use of sledgehammer as a paintbrush, replicating marks, and incorporating them into his abstract works. Crewe also makes paint markers out of plastic bottles by melting the plastic to turn the lid into a spout, often using them to draw in free-flowing gestures. His unique works are meant to 'brighten your day'.
