Beautifully framed in an a blonde wooden frame, this painting created with dye on silk explores the spaciousness of the mid-western U.S. landscape. The solitary barn sits nestled under the expansive teal sky. Bringing peace and a sense of stabiltiy to your home or business decor. This painting on silk was created for the exhibit "Call & Response: Works by Judy Bales & René Shoemaker" held at the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens, GA, USA (2018-2019). It was created in response to a photograph of the Iowa landscape taken by Judy Bales. It was first exhibited at the exhibit "In Bloom", at Ciné ArtHouse, Athens, GA in 2015. René Shoemaker is a master silk painter, born in New York City, who maintains studios in Athens, GA, USA and Aubusson, France. Spanning four decades and embracing a variety of mediums, her artwork highlights a sense of place while capturing the ways spaces work together and how people inhabit and interact with those spaces. René has exhibited in museums in Georgia, Mississippi, and Paris and in galleries and public spaces in Georgia, New York, the UK, and France. She teaches and speaks on silk painting and linoleuleum printing and in 2020 she received a Fiber Forward Focus Fellowship from AIR Serenbe in Georgia.
