Janis Painting

Elena Shumakher was born in 1969 in Novomoskovsk, Russia. Graduated from the faculty of Applied Arts of the Smolensk State University, she worked as an Art teacher in a kindergarten. It’s only in 2008 that she started her professional artistic career. This very year her first personal exhibition «Colorful Dreams» took place in Vitebsk, Belarus. Now Elena lives and works in Smolensk with her family which is her principal source of inspiration. As for her paintings, they are all based on feelings and emotions. Some people can say that Elena paints in the styles of expressionism, postmodernism and abstraction. Nevertheless, she tries to break the limits of different genres, to elaborate her own style. The most important thing for Elena is that her pictures evoke emotions and don’t leave anyone indifferent.
