'Jantan' is a Malay word that represents a brave heart for man! ’ Jantan’ is always used in times of courage and strength. 'Jantan' is one of my pieces which depicts mysterious forms. This specific piece represents a wild unidentified subject from my personal feelings. This is a special painting that I have been holding onto. The collection in its entirety has been exhibited in Kuala Lumpur several years ago. ‘Jantan’ in other words means that you want the person who is the brave spirit, dedicated and or most skilled to win or succeed. ‘Jantan’ also can be said to embody a person with the qualities associated with the masculine energies in every human, both male and female. Therefore, while masculinity looks different in different cultures, there are common aspects to its definition across cultures. In the past, and still among traditional and non-Western cultures, there appears a commonality and definitive sign for the figure of many mean. This is getting married. Modern American manhood is less tied to marriage itself, but some qualities are traditionally are still associated with it. These include the "triple Ps" of protecting, providing, and procreating. It can also be related to the social status which is the relative level of respect, honor, assumed competence, and deference according to people, groups, and organizations in a society. By definition, these beliefs are broadly shared among members of a society. As such, people use status hierarchies to allocate resources, leadership positions, and other forms of power. In so doing, these shared cultural beliefs make unequal distributions of resources and power appear natural and fair, supporting systems of social stratification. Status hierarchies appear to be universal across human societies, affording valued benefits to those who occupy the higher rungs, such as better health, social approval, resources, influence, and freedom. The paintings can hold true to the deconstruction of such belief systems. My works explore the process of paint, using the human form as a vehicle to create emotion. Life, death, change and time are predominant themes running through my works. Along with my feelings of a seemingly uncontrollable grasp that controls our destiny. Our knowledge and inspiration born from our mistakes and decisions, offers us both pleasure through our expression and uncontrollable frustration when our world is not created and shaped in the way we want it to be – helpless in our search for perfection. The expression of colors are very important to me. My works are accidental in the sense that they use different techniques like scratching on the canvas, splashing of colors, quick strokes of the brush, spontaneous brush flow, and combinations of other techniques to produce the artworks.
