About The Artwork

Jasmine bush; hardboard, oil; 2018; 61 x 80 centimeters; 24,0157 x 31,4961 inches I am very fond of reading about different cultures of the peoples of the world. I find it very interesting. And most importantly, the folklore often inspires me to create works of art! In one Asian legend, I read that the gods recommended people to drink jasmine tea. And after the death of a man, when they meet his soul, they asked him: Did you plant a jasmine bush in your life? I was very pleased with this attitude to jasmine! I love this flower. in my village many people regret it between their garden and the road. When I go by, I deliberately open the windows to inhale the fragrance. The aroma of jasmine is heady and beautiful! Rada interest I learned how to squeeze jasmine and how to care for it. It turned out that it is rather difficult to do this. However, I believe that legends should not be taken literally. That would be weird these days. I think this legend tells us that a person should think about what important things he did in his life! Such a complex, but beautiful, as a jasmine bush!

Artistic Statement I paint large scale contemporary pieces, up to three meters, that combine Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Also my artworks are land or seascapes and figurative art. The mix of styles creates is a dialogue between interior emotions and the outside environment. I like to think that all my art comes from a place of optimism and a celebration of life. I believe that the art and objects that we surround ourselves with can motivate people and infuse our lives with positive energy. I have always maintained, and tell my art students, that good art requires steady and constant effort and practice, so I make sure I paint every day. I am also constantly looking for ways to add new elements, stylistically and conceptually, to my work. Bio Aleksandra Cherepanova based in New York, but was born, grew up and was educated in Moscow, Russia.
