"Jordan's Revenge / Retreat" (2018)

acrylic and metallic paint on wood, 33x33 inches, hangs as a diamond shape.

Inspired by the decorative style and rural legends about House on the Rock in Wisconsin.

A FEW NOTES ABOUT MY ART:

What you see is what you get. I take great care to get clear and color-correct photographs of my work, but it always looks better in person. Please see additional images for detail shots, art in context, etc. Dimensions reflect the size of the art itself.

All of my smaller paintings on wood include a frame (custom or artist-made) and ready to hang, unless requested otherwise. Some works on canvas include a frame, but most of them do not require it - usually I will continue the painting around the edges. If you have questions or concerns about framing, please ask me for more options. I’m more than happy to accommodate.

All of my work is made with archival quality techniques and materials, and each gets a nice coat of varnish when they’re finished (usually matte). My smaller paintings are on 1/2” birch or oak hardwood boards, and gallery-wrapped canvases for larger work. Everything is made for permanence, so you can expect it to last forever.

I do not provide artist statements for work, because I feel the work and its title is enough to start the conversation with viewers. In my work, the viewer plays a role in finishing the art, giving it life, visibility and intellectual value. However, many of my pieces do have a story, a symbolism or reference. If you’re interested in learning more about a particular work, please contact me directly or include a note in your offer.

Jim Ford is an interdisciplinary artist and type designer based in Milwaukee. Ford creates a fusion of modern and contemporary abstraction in his “collage paintings” which are activated with his sense of humor, history, culture and spirituality. ------------------------------- Art & design are my vehicles of transformation and connection. Sometimes it’s like having a key to a time machine. Art gives form, color and space to the songs of the soul; while design provides a practical, functional beauty. I hope that my work can be a crossroads of culture - where people from all directions can experience something universally profound. A culture of truth, compassion, freedom and expression. I love to think and study, and I’m very interested in subjects of belief, philosophy and theology. I see my work as a duty of faith, service and manifestation. A way of understanding life and sharing my energy with you.
