The painting is stretched around four stretcher bars, 1.25 inches thick (does NOT need to be framed). The painting weighs a total of 15 pounds (without the crate). Biggie is painted in shades of Payne's Grey/Gray. The motivation for this painting derives from the beginning lyrics to Biggie's hit song "Juicy". "Yeah, this album is dedicated To all the teachers that told me I'd never amount to nothin'." - Notorious B.I.G. Lyrics from "Juicy" The painting is multiple layers of acrylic paint with heavy and thick impasto areas to build both texture and volume. The interior confinements of Biggie's facial features are painted in a gestural and abstract expressionistic fashion. This painting took over 100 hours to complete. It began in January 2021 and was completed by the end of June 2021. There is documentation of all six months of painting to compliment the painting and to show the process of artistic expression, over a spectrum of time, trials and tribulations. As a personal note, the quote is embedded in the painting but hidden as to not detract from the true visual nature of the painting.
