ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece was inspired by the colors of wildflowers and grasses in the fields at Bull Creek, where I walk near my home. The final layer of black marks is new for me - taking on an Asian ink-painting style that is in the moment and undisguised beneath other layers. I changed the name to honor the memory of a dear friend who inspired the piece, Justine Damond.

Caroline is interested in the emotional responses that happen when color, sound, and movement translate each other. Her paintings are rhythmic and lyrical, exuberant and contemplative. She enjoys collaborating with dancers, musicians, and filmmakers, always looking for new ways to communicate with immediacy and bring the viewer into the process. Her work conveys a sense of freedom, immediacy, and joy. Caroline received her MFA in Studio Art from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her BA in Art and Art History from Brown University. She currently resides in her hometown of Austin, Texas, and spends about half the year traveling on art-related journeys.
