Painting: Acrylic, Airbrush on Paper.
My greatest passion as an artist is motorsport and in particular top flight motorcycle racing. Being published, I found that almost all my choices of subjects were to an extent chosen for me. My love, my passion actually stemmed from a nine year old boy who watched real gladiators fight and sometimes get tragically injured and even killed trying to tame 2 stroke beasts that went off like rockets.
My hero was Barry Sheene, but when his life was cut short by cancer, my attention turned to his nemesis "King Kenny Roberts", this piece is my homage to one of the bravest and finest motorcycle racers in history.
Painted in a photorealistic style on quality 425gsm / 200 lb watercolour paper using quality acrylic chroma colour paints, I have endevoured to colour match ensuring this work is correct in every detail.
As you can probably tell, this piece carries not only the brush strokes, it also carries the admiration I have for this greatest of foes to my boyhood hero.
This painting was never put into print by my then publisher and as a result I went on to meet the man himself and he signed the painting as can be seen the images (I have photos of Kenny signing the work).
