ABOUT THE ARTWORK

SHIPPING AND RETURNS

My art is influenced by women who work in Africa, particularly in DR Congo. My desire is for you to feel a connection to my art and be able to create your own narrative when you look at it. The absence of a face is due to that... I used acrylics and fabrics.

Jennifer Sivi is an emerging visual artist. For as long as she can remember, drawing has always been a part of her life. Drawing was an escape, an infinite possibility for creativity, creating imaginary worlds and telling stories. As a teenager, passionate about fashion design, her drawings transformed into fashion sketches. This passion remains relevant today, combining the acrylics she uses in her works with pieces of fabric, particularly wax prints. Her work has focused on depicting scenes of daily life in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country bustling with life and creativity where Congolese women are omnipresent. Strong and courageous women making Article 15 a way of life. The faceless woman distances us from the intimate and the private. This anonymity allows the viewer to better understand the position of women within this society. Her paintings transcribe slices of Congolese life in a natural, simple, and colorful way, a sort of ode and declaration of love to the Democratic Republic of Congo, her home country. Despite the suffering and precariousness that persist there, she strives to simply and unpretentiously convey the vitality of women. Engaging in a dialogue with Jennifer means following her into the reality of the Democratic Republic of Congo, seen through the eyes of women. Her work offers you a perspective nourished by dreams...
