Klimtian Icon Painting

Interpretation of Klimt's style through the combination with mixed technique.This work is part of the “Icons” series. The "Icons" series is dedicated to abused artworks whose effigies, rooted in the collective imagination, are repeatedly replicated through the media and, thus distorted by their historical, mythical and poetic component, become self-referential iconic images. With my work I try to return dignity to the pictures, producing for each one a single original, with meticulous pictorial techniques and mixed-technique interventions. While Byzantine icons draw attention to the divine aspect through the sacred representation and gold background, in my "icons" the faces of subjects take on the priority attraction, they are themselves "icons", so they are highlighted with the leaf Gold, silver, copper. The portraits of the characters represented are defined with a few brush strokes, whose synthesis is obtained through the study of a series of prints. The rest of the details and the bottom are made of acrylic or oil colors, expressively fragmented to allude to the mosaic, whose original function is the timelessness of the work. Finally, each work presents pieces of jewelry that symbolically embellish it and emphasize its unique value.
