Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Spray Paint, Glass, Paper, Paint on Cardboard, Glass, Paper, Wood.

This is one of the paintings for "CITY OF SHARDS" project.

Marina’s artwork captures a snapshot of contemporary Berlin, with the pieces representing the locations and neighborhoods of Berlin where the glass used to create the paintings was found.

Shattered glass is the main visual element in her artwork and essential to her practice. Every material has a specific structure. In order to understand and to truly see this structure, she destroys the material. From the destruction she creates different shapes, reimagines the composition of the glass, and produces a new expression of the material. The process of destruction is transformed into a creative one.
