It was anger that inspired me to do this work, I had to be able to illustrate one of the most terrible sufferings, that of an abused childhood, abused by abject people, those who are the shame of humanity. How will art lovers feel or think about this artwork to illustrate such a serious subject? As in all my artworks, it will be necessary to go very far in the observation, to look for all the details which bring to the obviousness of the subject, as for all my artworks a text accompanied by this one. I chose a puzzle as a support to represent games, childhood. For the drawing part, I gave carte blanche to my friends Wilfried Desmond and Vincent Desmond, comic book designers, the result was above my expectations. Broken Childhood … A poisonous mushroom stuck next to an innocent floweret… A dark dungeon tower looming in the dusk… A sinister and pixelated setting for a little girl in danger… Thérébentine , a blond child with pigtails, a somewhat shrimpy, manga-style Pippi, a champion for all little ones, born to teach them how to become adults… A toon version, like a trap laid for innocence… “B.D”, for “Bande Dessinée”, or rather “Bad” Dream” … … A critical scene for a “comic” strip… An evil encounter on a footbridge… A High Risk level... A maximum threat for the “kiddo heroine”… Her Health Points starting to dwindle, the game is now beyond the stage of promises, and deceit has fizzled out... … The lecher unmasked… A face-off with the Monster… Green like the Devil, with sharp fangs and horns like the Beast… The treacherous, phallic, and pox-ridden tongue… The ghastly caricature of all bastards. His moniker: GORK... For her, it spells PUKE… On the brink of vomiting… GORK, a Hideous Creature who abducts children, to drag them into the darkness of his lair... … Thérébentine : not the type to submit.. Confrontation… Truth versus Evil… Infamy denounced… Words as a magical weapon… Speaking out, to stay alive… The Monster become impotent, his horrific seed neutralised… The Enemy shattered into a broken puzzle… Millions of tiny pieces like so many tiny victims… But Truth finally brought back together…

French artist born in 1954, He lives and works between Prague (Czech Republic), Budapest (Hungary) and Aix-en-Provence (France).▪️A Multifaceted Artist Self-taught, atypical, and iconoclastic, Denis Defrancesco uses a whole range of techniques and materials to give form to his ideas, fantasies, and anxieties. A great ape in bronze, a giant plexiglass rabbit, a blow-up doll made of marble, a plastic Obama, a steel machine for slicing memories, a urinal in oil paint... He keeps giving the world his own twist, transfiguring reality to tell us stories: a childhood fear, a teenage memory, a passionate love affair, time fleeting, the body declining, death lurking. It is pop, electric, often bold, and always free. His work, both carnal and scientific, blends bronze with marble, paint with plexiglass, steel with plastic. He likes nothing more than mixing genres and spurning styles. Denis Defrancesco is an exalted introvert, an exhibitionist full of modesty, who creates an eclectic, surprising, insolent, and personal body of work with his monumental sculptures, 3-D paintings, and metamorphosized idols. A text accompanies each of his sculptures and paintings, like the key to a specific story. ▪️Private gallery in Aix en Provence (France)
