ABOUT THE ARTWORK
L'OISEAU BLEU - the blue bird - a bird from paradise, a bird of dreams ... What is reality and where does dreaming begin? Or vice versa? The thin line between what we consider to be real and what we imagine in our dreams was the inspiration to this painting. It is another one of my series of small paintings in acrylic on paper. The paint is applied in thick layers and the painting itself (6x6cm) gets an almost three dimensional touch. It is sold matted and in a solid white woodden frame behind glass (of course you can leave away the glass, so that the painting can develop all of its beauty evern better!).

I am a Czech-born and now Germany based painter. In my works I explore the essence of what surrounds me: why do people act the way they do? What lies beneath the surface of what meets the eye? What are we driven by? To express what I sense beneath the surface I feel drawn to different materials and a range of colours, which I apply in different layers on my canvases and papers, using a variety of techniques including scratching, brushing and printing. This way expressive works are created, some reduced to basic expressions, others rich in colour and texture.
