Art Description

Painting: Acrylic and Ink on Plastic and Other.

The artwork is mounted on wooden panel.Ink on Yupo Paper with neon acrylics.I work with vibrant shellac inks on bright white Yupo paper, an absorbent PVC surface. In my paintings, I create a crisp division between the painted surface and the über-artificial white Yupo paper, which creates shape and form equally in the painted and the non- painted surface.
Neon acrylic paint gives the painting an additional element, playing with our spectral sensitivity.
I think that our daily use of screen devices changes our visual perception. As an artist I’m naturally interested in pursuing and exploring that idea.
In some pieces I’m integrating historical images from Life Magazine and from the era of industrialization.
These collages give me the opportunity to playfully explore interpretations of the “American Dream” as understood by a European growing up in a country occupied by Americans.
I also incorporate experiences of nature from summer road trips, where I discovered the grand landscapes of America’s national parks.
