These paintings are part of an ongoing series reflecting the U.S. large global military presence, and the contorted aftermath of so many years of ‘democracy building’ and ‘failed diplomacy’.

Raymond Prucher is an artist, designer and writer. His work explores being and its residues, the substance of memory, impermanence, the dotted lines around tangibility. Like transcriptions of a radio play on a station that comes in and out of tune, or Plato’s undulating shadows on the wall of a cave, cast by a light we do not hold, do not discern, these imaginary landscapes are an amalgam of experience and memory of a place and time that is either past or not yet realized. Cavities and protrusions of the earth and body, fires, skies, ice floes, oceans, waterfalls, vapor trails, inscriptions and erasures—constantly flickering, moving, defined as much by their material as by the negative spaces that circumscribe them. As an artist, Prucher's work has included painting, installation, sculpture, print, drawing and digital media. He has exhibited in France, Palestine, South Africa, the UAE and the USA. A book of his prints, Jenin imPrints, was published in 2006 by Color Gang Edition, Givors, France.
